derreck-malemayns:

Derreck noticed the lass’ sudden shift of demeanor, already eating his food. He grinned, impressed with how his creation turned out to be as he chewed ever so slowly to savor the flavor the traditional Chinese delight had to offer but still had a different tang to it. “Act like I didn’t say that,” he said with an uneasy chuckle then took a sip of his wine, “It’s more like ‘chia̍h hok’ because ya know, Chinese food…” He released a faint laugh, realizing how punny and corny his joke was.

“Thank you,” he said with a cocky grin, wiping off imaginary dust off of his shoulder for effect. “Right. But who knows? It’s just that I spend a majority of my time out there with them mundanes.”

Klarity began eating at a slower pace enjoying the meal Derreck had made even though she had already eaten most of it by then, occasionally taking a sip of wine. “Of course” She grinned and chuckled at his pun.

“I doubt anyone has bothered researching but I suspect that we just have a higher tolerance than mundanes. Me too, well not so much now, times change unfortunately. ”

“Whoever said that I was the good guy? Or a hero? I’m bad to the core and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he sighed, growing ever more bored with the girl’s lecture on his personality traits. He was psychopath and he didn’t need a psychiatrist to figure that out.

“Have you met worse? Oh really, I purposely killed my own father. Without regret or remorse, watching as his miserable existence faded from the world,” he said, coldly. There wasn’t any sort of warmth or tone to his voice, just coldness.

“You may be a bit psychotic but that doesn’t make you completely evil. I don’t think anyone really is, people like yourself just hide away the better side because you think it makes you weak.”

“Well he can’t have been a very good father then if you felt that way.  We have that in common then, not the killing thing, just the bad dad thing. Anyway you’d be surprised at how inventive school girls can be at times, especially when their parents don’t see fit to correct them.”

Matt almost gagged as he walked into the Kitchen, scrunching up his nose. It wreaked of gasoline, he looked to Klaire and nodded groaning in displeasure. “It stinks of gasoline,” he croaked, “Other than that, it’s hard to distinguish a scent from this place. Our serial arsonist knew what he was doing,” Matt said, still grimacing. He looked around the kitchen searching, before smiling back at the young warlock. “Excited, happy, nervous, worried and a little anxious.”

Klaire nodded “They probably used a lighter as well which doesn’t narrow the possibilities down.” She peeled a couple of bits of kitchen off and tucked them into her pocket “They’ll come in handy.  I don’t think there’s much else here that will help, time to head to the library I think.” Klarity told the vampire “I’m sure you and Roxanne will be amazing parents, that kid is going to be pretty cool.”
